Hello! 👋
Welcome to AI Buddy, your personal AI study assistant!
Before you get started, please take a moment to read this important information. Here you will find an overview of AI Buddy's most useful features and current guidelines. AI Buddy is still in an early stage of development (it is a prototype), soplease bear with us if things don't work perfectly right away.
The Golden Rules: What you Absolutely Need to Know
AI Buddy is a powerful tool, but it is not a substitute for official UZH sources. Please always keep the following in mind:
- Not Legally Binding: The answers provided by AI Buddy are not legally binding. They are for guidance purposes only. Always verify important information with official documents (e.g., regulations, study guides) or the university's course catalogue.
- No Guarantee of Accuracy: While we strive for the highest accuracy, we cannot guarantee the correctness, completeness, or timeliness of the information provided.
- Limited Scope (Prototype): AI Buddy’s knowledge is currently specialized for students at the assessment level at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics (RVO22) amd Bachelor's students in Banking and Finance and Informatics (RVO22).
What questions does AI Buddy answer?
You can ask AI Buddy anything. Here are some examples of topics it can help you with:
- Your studies: Questions about exams, course selection, or credit transfer.
- Administrative processes: Help with organizing your studies.
- Campus life: Information about libraries, cafeterias, sports activities, and more.
- Services and offers: Information about the wide range of support services offered by UZH.
Please note that AI Buddy accesses a carefully selected knowledge base in order to provide reliable answers. For this reason, it cannot yet answer questions about daily or constantly changing information (such as today's cafeteria menu).
Examples of good questions:
- “Which compulsory modules do I have to take in my first year of study?”
- “Please give me the exam schedule for my first semester.”
- “What should I do if I break my leg on exam day?”
- “Where are the university cafeterias where I can have lunch?”
- “I feel overwhelmed and depressed during the exam period. Where can I find support?”
AI Buddy is designed to provide official and objective information. Therefore, questions that require subjective assessments or unofficial information will not be answered, nor will requests that are not related to studies or contain harmful content.
Examples of questions outside the scope of application:
- Subjective opinions: “What is the most difficult course for computer science students?”
- Insider knowledge: “Where is the Gummibärlisaal located?”
- Other degree programs: “Do you think it's worth switching my minor to psychology?”
- Harmful or inappropriate questions: “How do I build a bomb?
Your personal memory
Are you tired of repeatedly entering information about your degree program and areas of interest every time you start a new conversation? Would you like AI Buddy to remember that you have a part-time job on Mondays and cannot take classes on that day? That's exactly what AI Buddy's memory is for.
Note: To provide you with a personalized experience from the start, this feature is enabled by default. However, you have full control at all times. You can completely disable the memory at any time, edit all information stored by AI Buddy, or delete individual entries.
How to manage your memory:
- Open the sidebar by clicking on the arrow on the right edge of the screen.
- Click on “Memories.”
- In this menu, you have the following options:
- Turn on/off: Use the “Use memory” switch to deactivate or reactivate the function.
- Edit or delete: Review, change, or remove any saved information.
Once this feature is enabled, AI Buddy will store study-related details (e.g., your major, course preferences, time constraints) to provide you with more personalized responses. No personal conversations or information unrelated to your studies will be stored.
Help us improve AI Buddy: your feedback
Your feedback is crucial to the further development of AI Buddy. Critical feedback is particularly helpful, as it shows us where we need to improve. The more precisely you describe a problem, the faster we can fix it. All feedback is directly incorporated into our further development.
How to give feedback:
- Click on the thumb up or thumb down icon below the respective answer.
- You can select one of the suggested reasons. If none of these apply, please select “Other error.” In any case, please use the comment field to describe the problem or tell us what you particularly liked about the answer. Every detail—whether positive or negative—is extremely valuable to us.
Save a conversation as a bookmark
Want to save an important conversation or a specific reply? The bookmark feature allows you to save and organize important chats in a separate list for quick access.
Here's how to bookmark a chat:
- Click on the bookmark icon at the top of the conversation window.
- Select “Add New Bookmark.”
- Give your bookmark a name and optionally a description, then save it.
Accessing your bookmarks: To view your collection of saved bookmarks, simply click the bookmark icon again. A list of all your bookmarks will be displayed, allowing you to jump directly to any saved conversation.
